TESTIMONY:

God’s Timeline Continues My divorce was finalized after 377 days—when it should have taken just 60. I thought the legal battle would end once the decree was granted, but it took another 475 days to complete the administrative process because my ex-husband refused to comply with court orders. The journey was brutal and expensive. But Jesus fought my battle and provided for me every step of the way. During the divorce, memories of my children resurfaced. I was technically married for 33 years and had a blended family: one biological son, one son who is in heaven, and four bonus children—three daughters and one son. I loved and treated all of them as if I had birthed them. My bonus son moved in with us at age 8, entering the 4th grade while at a 2nd grade level. My biological son was 6 years old at the time. Watching them grow up filled my heart with joy. T-ball, softball, basketball, football, track meets, orchestra and band concerts—those moments were blessings. So many practices, games, and doctor clearances. The divorce reopened wounds I thought had healed. These wounds didn’t surface until after my bonus children were grown. I recently heard a sermon about a parent’s responsibility, and I can say with peace: I provided what Jesus would require. I carry no guilt, even though my bonus children hurt me deeply. My bonus son denied I signed for his college loan his first year even though his parents lacked the credit. His scholarship covered only 6% of tuition and he lived in off-campus housing. One daughter arrived in my driveway ready to move in without me knowing. She also sent her 4-year-old son to stay with me and her father—again, without me knowing. She never had her children call me (Nana) to wish me a happy birthday or Mother’s Day. One daughter physically pushed me to the ground. Praise Jesus I didn’t have my gun with me—I knew I’d be around children. I’ll spare you more heartbreak. The daughter who is now in heaven was always kind to me. Eventually, I had to leave my bonus family at the altar. They never thanked me, but I hope they thanked God. My bonus son graduated from college, built a high-tech career, and married a high-profile physician. He had to disassociate with me because his biological mother cannot share pictures/stories about physically being there for some highlights and milestones while he was growing up. Today, they have no relationship with me. But I can say with confidence: I always showed love. There’s a fine line between loving and feeling like a doormat. Like most parents, I’m grateful I chose love—even when it wasn’t returned. May God bless you!
